Determine Membership Type & Required Forms
You may join LPR as a primary member if you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and affiliated with a Designated REALTOR®/Broker In Charge who is a member of LPR.
An individual is considered a PRIMARY member if payment of state and national dues is through LPR. You may only join as a Primary member if your Designated REALTOR®/Broker In Charge is a member of LPR (either Primary or Secondary).
You must also be engaged actively in the real estate profession. This includes buying, selling, exchanging, renting or leasing, managing, appraising for others for compensation, counseling, or building, developing or subdividing real estate, and who maintain or are associated with an established real estate office in the state of North Carolina or a state contiguous thereto.
You may join LPR as a primary member if you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and have been designated the Broker In Charge of an office.
The Designated REALTOR®/BIC must be a sole proprietor, partner, corporate officer or branch office manager acting on behalf of the firm’s principal.
This individual shall be responsible for all duties and obligations of Membership including the obligation to arbitrate pursuant to Article 17 of the Code of Ethics and the payment of Association dues as established in Article X, of the Bylaws and must meet all other qualifications for REALTOR® Membership established in Article V, Section 2, of the Bylaws.
An individual is considered a PRIMARY member if payment of state and national dues is through LPR.
Secondary Members pay their state and national dues through another Association/Board.
Any licensee may join LPR as a secondary member without the requirement of their Designated REALTOR®/BIC be a member. EXCEPTION: If MLS Access is requested, then the DR/BIC must be a Participant in the MLS.
You may join the LPR MLS and NOT become a member of LPR as long as you are a licensed real estate agent in the state of North Carolina and a member of another Board/Association. MLS Access is granted to Participants (DR/BICs) first, then to Subscribers(agents/licensees). MLS Only REALTOR® members may ONLY have access to the MLS if their DR/BIC has access to the BCAR MLS.
Remember, with membership comes discounts – including MLS monthly fees!
MLS Participants are individuals who are not joining the association but wish to access LPR MLS. If MLS Access is requested, then the DR/BIC must be a Participant in the MLS.
If you work as an office assistant and require access to the MLS you may qualify for Administrative MLS Access. You may NOT have an active real estate license affiliated with a firm to qualify for this class of membership.
Affiliate members are people involved in a business related to real estate but do not have an active licensed real estate. Affiliate members are given special opportunities to promote their business to LPR Members throughout the year. To learn more about Affiliate membership benefits click here.
Previous members of LPR are those who have existing records with the Association or MLS. Members returning after more than two years will have their dues prorated. Those reinstating within a two-year period will be subject to the full annual dues for the year in which they are reinstating.
